The MCU: Taika Waititi Feels More Pressure After Trailer Reactions to Ragnarok
At the red carpet premier last night for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel Studios exec Louis D’Esposito commented that the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok “broke the internet” last week while standing next to Taika Waititi. Disney had announced that the trailer broke its own records for most viewed. This includes everything put out by Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, and Lucasfilm. The Maori director jokingly admitted that perhaps he should have not made the trailer so great that expectations were low going in for fans. There’s a bit of truth to this now that the trailer has received extremely positive reviews and high anticipation.
We, the Pacific Islander communities who love comics, will cheer him on with Bring It On pom-poms and extreme arthritis-inducing spirit fingers as he’s got his work cut out for him over the next 5 to 6 months of post-production. Honestly, there’s less pressure here than there was for Moana to be accepted by Pacific Islanders. We’re confident that Taika will not let his “Taikapaths” down when Thor: Ragnarok drops on November 3rd.
…and now to add to Taika’s pressure, we’ll post the trailer again below. Are you excited?
Pete Taase once was a Sith Lord, but was brought back from the depths of dark side by his younglings and old VHS cassettes that require the tracking button to make the screen clearer to view.
