The MCU: Agents of SHIELD Returns for Season 5
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has always been on the chopping block since its initial season. Let’s face it, the Marvel small screen (non-streaming) efforts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have not been as successful as the big screen. Marvel’s Agent Carter was cancelled after two seasons. The Captain America: First Avenger spin-off wasn’t a ratings catcher despite having an excellent actress, Hayley Atwell, reprise her role from the big screen. The other spin-off of from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., entitled Most Wanted, was not picked up by ABC. Despite all of those unrealized successes, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has had to up its game in the writing department since Season 2. It’s also been improving from season to season.
This latest Season 4, fans who stuck with the show were treated to 3 story arcs – Ghost Rider, Life Model Decoy (LMD), and the Framework. All 3 story arcs have been competently displayed with its own twists and turns that will culminate into the season finale airing next week. With such a strong effort from show runners (and married couple) Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen and the rest of the writing team, it’s not wonder S.H.I.E.L.D. is returning. Now, there’s anticipation with ABC’s heavily budgeted Marvel’s Inhumans releasing next fall for possible crossovers. Maybe that will jumpstart interest in Marvel’s first television effort.
Pete Taase once was a Sith Lord, but was brought back from the depths of dark side by his younglings and old VHS cassettes that require the tracking button to make the screen clearer to view.
