The Force Awakens Now Out on Digital

StarWarsTFA-1

Apple TV and other digital formats as of midnight last night are now enjoying Star Wars: Episode VII. While many of our readers have watched J.J. Abrams’ entry multiple times in theaters, the digital format (and eventually the disc medium on April 5th) brings the behind-the-scenes extras.

Here’s a long list:

  • The Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey is the major extra being featured. It clocks in at just over 1 hour and 9 minutes long…and you’re going to want it to last more than 2 hours by the time you’re done. This IS the documentary for the Star Wars enthusiast.
  • The Story Awakens: The Table Read (4:01) – The entire cast (old and new)…with Mark Hamill reading the narration. J.J. Abrams’ excellent casting sense is already on display.
  • Crafting Creatures (9:04) – The evolution of Star Wars creatures and how they’re brought to life.
  • Building BB-8 (6:03) – The cute droid that has captured the hearts of Star Wars fans.
  • Blueprint of a Battle: The Snow Fight (7:02) – The final lightsaber battle and how it was pieced together.
  • ILM: The Visual Magic of The Force (7:56) – This is a about the special effects provided by Industrial Light & Magic.
  • John Williams: The Seventh Symphony (6:51) – There’s no explanation here except the brilliance of iconic composer John Williams.
  • Force for Change (3:21) – An initiative on how Star Wars is helping others

There are the additional Deleted Scenes and Cast and Crew information on top of these. No gag reel was found. Then again, watching all of the humorous interviews more than make up for the absence of bloopers.

Enjoy!
